Footprints In The Sand
It started with a dream (see below to view) to recreate part of my life through music for a book launch.
Little did I know what we (as a team) would face.
It didn’t take long for things to start hitting the fan. 🙂
Change
Locations changed 3 times.
The last time was on the day.
I will never forget getting to the site the night before where guys had dropped off a telephone pole. I looked around hoping to find a car. NOTHING. I called the junk yard. The trailer had broke down. Relieved I thought tomorrow it’ll be better.
No
Next day…
There was no car. So I drove to the shop. NO one was there. In my car, I prayed while I fought physical pain and texted several prayer warriors. They mentioned that after prayer they really felt God leading that a car would come and everything would come together.
Since the whole team was coming in later that day, I didn’t want to tell them we had no car on site as I was hoping to figure it out before they arrived.
Junk
After praying while driving around looking for another junk yard, I finally felt I should go to Walmart and talk to someone in the tire department.
In the tire department, I only heard again I should go back to the shop I had just come from as they were the best. Back there, I saw another vehicle. Another man was waiting for the owner.
Not trying to be…
After an eternity the other man waiting finally mentioned having numbers to other junk yards for me. Then he asked for a favor after saying, “I’m not trying to be weird.”
It was weird though in a not weird, WEIRD way… lol
Flipflops
He got paid to take pics of feet and asked since I was in flipflops if I could model. He showed me the site he used.
I agreed and was able to go through the pics after he took them (I couldn’t believe my feet were being used to model as I have never thought my feet as modeling material).
Showed
Thankfully, after the pictures, the car showed up on site hours later.
Then just a few hours before everything was to start I got a call from my team saying they were told the location would not work and we needed to move the car, telephone pole, equipment and everything else.
Fighting Back…
I didn’t know what to do as I drove to the site and learn the news first hand. I walked away as I was fighting back tears. I felt this was what I was supposed to be doing after prayer.
Some Other Time
People around me were trying to be nice and said we can come back some other time. Inside I knew it had to be that day. I had already put too much of everything I had into it at that point. Also I had paid to use and smash the car and have it removed a few days later.
I called my friend Rita and she mentioned contacting the person who had helped earlier to move the pole on the car.
The Mayor…
He said, “we can do it at our place.” I said what if we get stopped there. I’ll never forget his words, “people call me ‘The Mayor’ around here and we won’t have any trouble because they will have to go through me and if anyone has a problem they can…).” I thought to myself I have a feeling we won’t have any problems.
Cut
Then he and the stunt man told me to go home and get ready and everything would be moved in time. I didn’t know how it would happen but I left and thanked them so much – they were heroes that day.
When I arrived that night to videotape the scene of the wrecked car it was all set up. They had cut the pole in half to move it and made everything work. There was glass shattered everywhere.
The nurse recreated the scar on my arm and the previous Miss Universe helped with food.
“Feels The Pressure…”
As the night sky darkened and we began the song I didn’t care as I sang “feels the pressure but still outlast the night.” (see 2:02 below on the video)….
I was genuinely feeling every word that day and most of the days leading up to the launch as so much was coming at me (most of which is too long or personal to include here). Maybe today there is a lot of pressure surrounding your life or dreams – outlast it.
There are days that I miss myself as a little girl who walked/ran carefree out in the fields in the country growing up and dreamed big but sometimes I still feel her – all of her. The unedited/unfiltered version that laughs, cries and enjoys life to the fullest. I felt God’s presence that day and somehow knew he would carry me even though I doubted at times how I felt him directing. I hope you feel that in your life as well.
I also hope this song leaves footprints not only in the sand from the horse but also in the lives of those of you who are trying to outlast the pressure of your night and go after your dream.
Who Knows?
And who knows…
…maybe I have also left footprints of another kind through the feet modeling pictures that are traveling somewhere maybe even today with the mysterious man I met that day.
I don’t know if he was an angel or someone who creatively made a living but I am thankful I met him that day. If he is reading this or someone knows him, I would like to thank him for the numbers AND asked if anyone ever bought my feet pictures. 🙂 ✨
It was worth the struggle! The song is so beautiful and the video goes perfectly with it. Congratulations on a job well done!🎹🎤🎵
Aw, thank you, Kay! So much behind the scenes on stuff like this that it takes to do projects like that for the first time.
My friend, I hate to be the one to rain on your parade, but that man who took pictures of your feet did NOT have good intentions. 🥴 Please, woman-to-woman, and for your safety, do not ever let anyone take photos of any part of you for “modeling”. They are not good men/people.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
No worries, he was just a FOOT PUSHER besides she had so much fun that day. Seriously, though the message of how to respond to pressure was a great encouragement to me !
