Mere Dreams

Have you ever had a moment that was embarrassing.  I have… recently. Maybe too recent… lol

It started great. I went to a dinner theatre with some ladies. Unknown to me, they told the MC that it was my birthday week and to announce it before the program.

Which was thoughtful and some would even say nice…minus one detail, which came way too soon.

Over the big mike it boomed.

“Grace Atherton.”

I listened puzzled at first and then in horror from another room. I was like that’s my name, NO.

Then I heard it. “Grace Atherton in the restroom, Happy Birthday.”

I don’t know why, but there as I walked from the sink and looked in the wall mirror (which magnified the scene) it seemed like – every lady in the United States (both strangers and friends) was there excitedly shouting, “happy birthday.”

It was one packed house.

The Ladies Room Where It Happened

It wasn’t done yet, however. When I came out into the theatre they asked, “Is Grace Atherton back from the restroom?”

“Here I am,” I said and they went through it all over again.

Finally, I ran into a talented photographer (who goes by LL2) who got my picture with the play title (see picture at top of blog post). As I was taking the picture an older gentleman walked by and said, “oh you were the one in the restroom, happy birthday.”

I felt like happy birthday was my new middle name and restroom had become my last name.

In life it takes time/humility to actually look at ourselves in the mirror and “wash our own hands” instead of solely focusing on others. It takes bravery to see what type of person we are, “celebrate” (or not depending on what room you are in) 🙂 our unique gifts, dreams, purpose and see which things need to go.

Recently, I’ve found myself looking at areas in my life. The positive areas (to continue) and negative areas (to change) in order to reach my dreams and be the best version of myself for those around me.

Transparency: See end of blog post for some things I have personally been working on.

To each of you who have continued to support this blog during transition, I appreciate it so much!

Since taking June off and cutting back to posting twice a month (1st & 3rd Monday) our unique views (already high) increased in the month of July and we have continued to gain subscribers (if you still need to sign up for our bi-monthly email please do so HERE).

The numbers have never been the main reason why I do this blog. I hope the messages touch the One of you that truly needs encouragement or the inspiration to get where you are going… When that one turns into ones I am grateful (but I would do it for you reading this if you were the only ONE).

Your messages on the ways the writing has helped you go after your dreams (and your request to hear about the blogs progress) is and will always be the heart behind why I blog/do updates.

Excited to announce that we have two members who joined the team: A Social Media Moderator and A Blog Editor. Thank you each for continuing to interact on social media with my new Moderator.

The blog is now posting twice a month (1st & 3rd Monday). This has given me time to focus on some exciting new things. More Info Coming Soon!

Natalie Cruz, played Lady Thiang. She is a very talented, amazing person.

As promised earlier, here are a few of the personal areas I’m working on :

  1. Positive Words – speaking positive things especially over myself (Example: caught myself saying I was surviving recently and later was like no “I am thriving”) 🙂
  2. Positive Thoughts – focusing on positive thoughts and not allowing negative self talk in my head especially about myself
  3. Heal From Experiences – the flashbacks that tried to freeze me in 2 moments
  4. Face Past Trauma – heal emotionally (in one area) so I am not projecting on random people/or reacting a certain way
  5. Watch My Actions – since what you put out in the world comes back

In life when you are going after your dreams, I hope you have the courage to look in your life’s mirror.

I also hope you try new things, brush off temporary embarrassing situations outside your control (lol), have people join you in your vision, and that you continue to use the talents that you see when you look in your symbolic mirror.
