Sweet Dreams

DressBohemian FarmGirl Market

Growing up on a farm there always seemed to be a lot of work to do. To relax and have time to think, I would go for a “run” and take a nap after under a tree in the cow pasture.

When I came back I always felt better.

Recently, while running and feeling the weight of areas in my life that I need to change and work on, I asked myself some hard questions.

For me sometimes I have to look a little higher. Sometimes we all hit a point where you have nothing left and can’t do it all on your own.

One thing that can be super helpful to recover whether that is physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually is rest and taking breaks. Everyone is different in what amounts they require.

Our bodies need it in order to heal and repair. In fact, it has been proven scientifically that without the proper rest you can’t think properly, perform at your highest level or even maintain a healthy weight.

Even elite military groups realize that and as a result they require special training without sleep for when it’s required in combat as it doesn’t come naturally.

Examples of cultures that include special times of rest include Israel. They rest for an entire day on Saturday. In Italy and Spain they take naps during the day.

Further some companies today are offering their employees naps and they are seeing productivity go up.

What are ways to help make sure you get the physical rest you need?

Sometimes we all need rest from emotional things in our life. One way I like to do this is going by water. An ancient king by the name of David said he found restoration in his mind, will and emotions resting by nature and water.

What helps you emotionally rest?

Sometimes our minds can get overtaxed especially when we are going at our top level in every area or facing extremely stressful situations. Mental rest can come by doing something you love. For me to get inspired to write or process life, I often go for a run and walk in nature.

What helps you mentally rest?

I know many of you who read my blog are from all different religions, mindsets and views and I am so grateful you are here and hope you will continue to share your unique views! In fact, I enjoy interviewing people of various faiths, backgrounds and welcome different perspectives (if I ask questions I just want to know more, see where you are coming from as a result of your unique viewpoints/experiences and learn)!

With that being said recently I saw this quote:

In moments like seeing this quote (I realize and maybe you do too), you and I weren’t made to carry everything all the time. It’s too much and too heavy. I need rest for my soul. Rest in the areas I need to process life. A break to get restored physically, mentally and emotionally. The only way I find this is in God. I can’t do it on my own.

How do you find rest spiritually for your soul (mind, will and emotions)?

As my Grandmother always told me when she was alive (her couch was my second favorite place to nap):
